I, Too

 Today we read I, Too by Langston Hughes in class. After we read it we discussed what we read and answered some questions. I learned more about poetry and what it means to be an American. The poem was very impactful because it shows you the benefit of being optimistic. I really enjoyed the lesson because I thought it was very insightful and it kept me interested. I was not feeling my best today as i've been dealing with some things that have been rough on my mental health lately but I'm proud that I made it through the day!

Last year, people were mean to my sister because they thought she was mean to this other girl, when in reality she had just been standing up for herself. This girls friends spread around a rumor saying Nina was mean and not a nice person but that wasn't the case. Limiting ourselves to one story can be harmful because then we don't understand the reality of a situation. Today in class we completed a common lit. I was very interested in the speech but I was having a little trouble focusing because it was really loud.

Write about a time when your failure was necessary for your growth. Examples of failures could be failing a major exam, failure to make a team, failure in a relationship, etc.

 One time a failure was necessary for my growth is when I was in middle school and my mom was directing Matilda the Musical and I didn't get cast. This made me want to work really really hard and I developed a love for the show and now I am playing Matilda this year!   Today in class we finished up the questions for the Yellow Wallpaper and I finished with time to spare! That was really nice.
